IMPROVED Plot and Location Ideas

As I am in charge of the sound in the horror movie I will explain brief ideas I have considered for the sounds I will use in each plot: Plot 1- Before the antagonist dressed in disguise, I will add normal chatter and giggles to the scene as the children are celebrating Halloween (diegetic.) As soon as the antagonist comes in, light eerie music will fill the scene to help the audience understand that the character is somewhat dangerous. When the spirit haunts the house, loud bangs and drawn out screeches will be used to create a significant amount of thrill. Maybe a chorus of a child's laughter will be used to let the viewer understand that, in fact the rejected child was the antagonist. Screams of the family members will be used to make it obvious that they're experiencing feelings of fear and fright Plot 2- Light eerie music (non diegetic) right at the start of the movie will be significant as it will be dark outside making the situation look dangerous instantly, letting the audience know that the bad decisions will take place almost instantly. When they enter the building, the idea of fake jump scares can be used to my advantage of sound as loud bangs that may have the audience skip a beat. These fake jump scares can build up to a real jump scare and the non diegetic eerie music will layer onto each other making it louder. This would create thrill and tension. Plot 3- The bullied child synopsis can be another advantage for me as things such as music boxes or ice cream truck music that are associated to youth can be used and it can give a creepy feeling to the situation. A child screaming and crying can be used to give the bullies a reminder of what they did in the past making them feel scared but also guilty.

Group roles

My group for the short horror movie consists of Munpreet, Shannon, Pavandeep and Simran. The roles we have chosen for ourselves are: Munpreet - Sound Shannon - Camera work Pavandeep - Mise en scene Simran - Editing I picked sound because I've recognised the importance of sound being used in movies that create tension and thrill. I want to try and achieve that feeling the audience gets when the sound carries the scene.
